Our client is a well-regarded Regional (SRA Regulated) Law Firm with Offices based across London and the South on England providing private client and commercial legal services to individuals and SMEs

This client is a forward thinking and rapidly expanding firm that has a established leadership team and is looking to recruit a qualified Financial Controller / Head of Finance (deputy COFA) to join the business

This position will report directly to the board of directors and play a key roles in the companies ongoing success and growth.

Responsibilities & Duties

Finance and Accounts

  • Production of Monthly Management Accounts, Cash Flow Forecasts, VAT Returns, Payroll and PAYE,
  • Budgets and Annual Accounts, Corporation Tax Returns.
  • Cash flow and financial management.
  • Preparation of financial management reports and data including KPI’s, performance metrics,

Operations Recovery & utilisation rates.

  • Management and supervision of the Accounts department including all accounting systems, billing, credit control and client balance management.
  • Liaising with the firm’s bankers and auditors as required including all aspects of SAR Reporting.
  • Acting as deputy COFA reporting to the firm’s COFA

Practice Administration

  • Review and control of office equipment and other supplier contracts; obtaining quotes for replacements and procuring best value from suppliers. Implementing installation of new equipment and ensuring training takes place for appropriate staff.
  • Renewal and review of the firm’s insurance policies, regulatory subscriptions, practicing certificates and CQS renewals
  • Arrangement of loans and finance agreements where necessary to include comparing quotes obtaining best value and subsequently arranging paperwork.

The ideal candidate will be working towards qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) if not already qualified and have the benefit of at least 3 years experience gained within Legal Services ideally gained within a Finance Manager / Financial Controller / Head of Finance Positions.

Those that are QBE but demonstrate relevant experience will be considered.Previous experience gained operating as HOFA / COFA is a advantage but not essential. My client has a need for candidates to hit the ground running, as such an excellent understanding of financial management, legal finance and cashiering, Solicitors’ Accounts Rules, SRA and other regulatory compliance will need to be demonstrated.
