Automotive Controls Engineer
Design machines for Automotive Manufacture (new & modify existing)
Why does the job exist and what is its significance into the organisation?
- To design control circuits for special purpose machines
- To create functions list for machine control and populate with relevant cross referencing to controls circuits
- To ensure safety both in designs and implementation in house and on customer sites
- To provide guidance and advise on a technical level to other departments
- To liaise with site teams to ensure smooth interaction between site and controls engineers
- To interface with both in house sub contract staff and exterior design resources
- To support other departments within the company including Sales, Purchasing, HR, Finance and Factory
- To work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- To support the controls requirements for both powertrain and car body technology sides of the business
Experience Required:
- Strong Siemens experience is a must.
- Automotive or automation experience necessary.
- The role is full time, office based (37.5 hrs per week).
- Office based in West Sussex and must be on site.
- There could be nationwide travel involved to support active projects, but the company will bear the cost for that, so just a willingness and openness to travel across the UK.
- Any candidates must have full right to work in the UK, a full UK driving licence and own a car. We're not considering sponsorship at this time.
- Engineering HNC or above or equivalent years' experience
- Experience of working in controls design
- Experience in special purpose design with a knowledge of the latest standards
- Good working knowledge of electrical circuit design
- Experience of Auto CAD and Eplan P8
- Experience of Siemens S7 / s7 TIA Portal Programming & Commissioning
- Pneumatic/hydraulic circuit design knowledge (desirable)

Overtime rates are:
Weekdays - 1.33 x hourly rate
Saturday - 1.5 x hourly rate
Sunday and Bank Holidays - 2 x hourly rate.
