Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Repairs Manager to join a local authority/housing association in West Sussex on an interim basis. The successful candidate will oversee and manage the delivery of reactive repairs services, ensuring high-quality standards and efficient service to residents. The role requires excellent leadership, technical expertise, and a strong understanding of repairs management within a local authority or housing association environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the reactive repairs function, ensuring service delivery aligns with performance targets and resident satisfaction.
  • Lead and supervise a team of repair operatives, ensuring efficient allocation and completion of work.
  • Coordinate and monitor repair requests, ensuring timely responses and resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Work closely with other teams (e.g., asset management, housing services) to resolve any issues affecting repairs and maintenance.
  • Prepare reports and performance updates for senior management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors and suppliers to ensure effective service provision.
  • Identify areas for improvement in repair processes and implement necessary changes.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to repair activities.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience managing reactive repairs within a local authority or housing association environment.
  • Strong team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of operatives to achieve service targets.
  • Excellent IT skills, with experience using repairs management software and other relevant tools.
  • Prior interim experience, with a proven track record of stepping into roles quickly and effectively.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in relation to repairs and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
