We are looking for a VAG qualified Master Technician to join our clients team based in West Sussex. You will be responsible for carrying out routine servicing, warranty work, and diagnosing vehicle problems while ensuring the highest level of workmanship.
Basic salary between: £40,000 - £42,000 pa + bonuses (OTE £48,000 - £50,000pa)
Monday - Friday - 8.30 am - 5.30pm
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Servicing & Diagnostics
- Perform routine servicing, advanced diagnostics, and repair work following manufacturer guidelines.
- Analyse work orders to understand vehicle conditions, diagnosis accuracy, and agreed work scope.
- Maintain exceptional standards of workmanship, staying updated with the latest technical advancements.
- Accurately document work orders, recording hours and materials used, and returning all warranty materials to the Warranty Clerk.
- Minimise wastage of materials, oils, and fluids.
- Attend all Master Technician training courses and share relevant information with service staff.
- Present technical updates and service bulletins during regular service meetings led by the aftersales Manager.
Workshop Support & Leadership
- Assist the Workshop Controller in scheduling and prioritising work to ensure efficient operations.
- Provide technical guidance to Technicians, mentoring Apprentices when applicable.
- Take a leadership role in the workshop, advising on work priorities.
- Support the induction and training of new staff.
- Identify and suggest process improvements for better efficiency.
Fault Diagnosis & Reporting
- Conduct thorough testing and diagnostics to identify vehicle issues.
- Provide clear, detailed reports on faults to the Workshop Controller and service team.
- Communicate technical findings effectively to staff and customers.
- Ensure seamless coordination with Parts, Bodyshop, and other departments regarding repair requirements.
Safety, Compliance & Workshop Maintenance
- Ensure all serviced vehicles meet VAG and industry safety standards.
- Adhere to health & safety regulations, environmental policies, and internal workshop procedures.
- Maintain workshop tools and equipment, reporting any faults or damage immediately.
- Follow safe working practices and proactively suggest improvements.
- Adopt a "right-first-time" approach to servicing and repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of job cards, detailing work completed and justifications for component replacements.
- Ensure work areas remain clean, organised, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Drive company and customer vehicles safely and in accordance with legal and company standards.
Requirements
- VAG qualified
- Strong technical expertise in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing VAG vehicles.
- Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and support Technicians.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional workmanship.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- A valid UK driving licence.
