Business Development Manager - Facilities Management

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Business Development Manager to join a growing SME based in West Sussex. The company provides a range of Facilities Management (FM) services, including drainage, CCTV, pumps, wastewater transportation, plumbing, M&E, heating, air conditioning, and fire safety services to commercial and domestic clients across the South East and West of England, including London and the M25 area.
With a turnover of £5m per year and plans to double this within 2-3 years, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a business on an ambitious growth trajectory.
The Business Development Manager will lead efforts to expand the company's MEBF (Mechanical, Electrical, Building and Fabric Engineering) services platform, helping clients manage their infrastructure assets safely and effectively to achieve their Net Zero objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in FM sales, with a proven ability to win new business and manage bids, as well as excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Business Development: Secure new business from building services clients, FM contractors, and corporations, driving revenue growth in hard FM services and MEBF solutions.
- Lead Bid and Proposal Management: Manage the entire bidding process, ensuring high-quality, tailored proposals that meet client needs and win contracts.
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and nurture long-term relationships with key clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
- Strategic Sales Leadership: Collaborate with the senior management team to develop and implement sales strategies to drive growth, focusing on the company's MEBF services platform.
- Market Expansion: Identify new business opportunities and explore ways to differentiate the company's services in a competitive market.
- Operational Collaboration: Work closely with the operations team to ensure seamless delivery of contracts and align sales efforts with service delivery.
- Networking and Industry Representation: Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities, increasing visibility and positioning the business as a leading FM services provider.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Senior-level experience in Business Development or Sales within the Facilities Management sector, specifically focusing on MEBF services (mechanical, electrical, building, and fabric engineering).
- Proven track record of securing new business, particularly from building services clients, FM contractors, and corporations.
- Strong client relationship management and customer service skills, with the ability to build and maintain long-lasting partnerships.
- A strong understanding of hard facilities management services and experience managing MEBF-related projects.
- Exceptional bidding and proposal skills, with experience managing complex sales cycles.
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders and close high-value deals.
- Ability to work independently, with strong remote working capabilities, while maintaining regular touchpoints with the Arundel management and operations teams.
