Our client isa specialist in underground EHV cable installation up to 400kV, jointing, testing up to 66kV, and all associated trenching and civil works. They operate as a principal contractor, main contractor, or contractor across the UK. The team are currently recruiting for a Civils Supervisor to oversee both jointing and reinstatement teams on major projects.

Position Overview:
As a Civils Supervisor, you will manage the day-to-day operations of multiple teams, including cable jointing, reinstatement, and civil works. You will ensure that all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards, with a focus on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations. Your role will involve overseeing projects such as cut-out work, link boxes, reinstatement activities, and connections up to 11/33kV, as well as coordinating with the Project Manager to ensure the timely delivery of projects within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision: Oversee cable jointing, reinstatement, and civil works teams across multiple sites, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Operational Contact: Act as the primary point of contact for on-site operations, addressing queries and resolving issues promptly.
  • HSE Compliance: Ensure full compliance with HSE regulations and complete Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all tasks.
  • Project Delivery: Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Quality Control: Conduct site inspections and ensure work meets client specifications, maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and leadership to all operatives, fostering high performance and morale.
  • Client Interaction: Handle customer complaints and issues, ensuring positive relationships with clients and local authorities.
  • Workforce Management: Plan, allocate, and monitor resources and teams to ensure optimal productivity.
  • Training: Provide support and training to team members, ensuring continuous skill development.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in civil works, cable jointing, and reinstatement, particularly within a DNO/ICP environment.
  • Strong knowledge of LV and HV systems, with a focus on operations up to 11/33kV.
  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in a similar role.
  • Thorough understanding of HSE regulations and the ability to complete RAMS.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS certification (advantageous but not essential).
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills to manage multiple teams and liaise with clients.
  • Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve operational issues on-site.
