Reporting To: Supply Chain Manager
Location: Bedhampton

Job Description Overview: The Stores Team Leader will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager and will be responsible for supervising a team of 12 staff. This role involves overseeing all activities related to the Plant's stock rooms, including consignment stock, off-site storage, and supporting the packaging and dispatch functions during peak demand periods.

The successful candidate will play a key role in materials and inventory management, ensuring that all store personnel follow best practices and established procedures. A strong understanding of MRPII systems (ideally MFG-Pro) and inventory management is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inventory Management:

  • Ensure accurate inventory records (98%+ accuracy) for parts identification, storage locations, and quantities across all stores.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of Perpetual Inventory Routines, including cycle counts and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Lead the execution of Year-End Stock Takes and maintain clear transactional audit trails.

2. Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and support all Stores staff, including managing departmental schedules, performance appraisals, and on-the-job training for new hires.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues, clarify procedures, and expedite workflows.
  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager in managing personnel policies, including recruitment, training, and handling grievance procedures.

3. Material Receipts:

  • Maintain detailed records for all materials received, ensuring all goods are processed within 24 hours of arrival at the Goods Inwards Dock.

4. Work Order & Spares Kitting:

  • Support the manufacturing team by ensuring timely and accurate work order kitting as directed by the Materials Planning Manager.
  • Assist the Sales Coordination team with the accurate picking of spare parts requirements.

5. Housekeeping & Safety:

  • Ensure that the stores are well-organized, safe, and compliant with health and safety standards (COSH).
  • Minimize operational hazards to staff and maintain a tidy work environment.

6. Service & Metrics:

  • Provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Track and report key performance metrics to ensure efficient store operations.

7. Procedure Development:

  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager in creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and best practices in store operations.

8. Health & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including conducting regular risk assessments and maintaining awareness of COSHH guidelines.

9. Continuous Improvement:

  • Actively participate in and promote the continuous improvement program within the Supply Chain function, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness.

10. Packaging & Dispatch:

  • Take on additional responsibilities during high workload periods or in the absence of team members, particularly in packaging and dispatch.

Problem Solving:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and organize activities related to costs, quality, methods, and operations, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer care.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong numeracy skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of stores, shipping, and operational procedures within a manufacturing setting.
  • Flexibility in working hours and approach to meet business needs during critical times.
  • Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
