They are an ethical and fast-growing company with a team of exceptional people and are looking for someone to join them during an exciting period of change and growth. The role is based in the Purfleet area.

Transport Shift Manager Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for running a smooth operation during your shift, ensuring efficient utilisation of the fleet and drivers, optimising routes and managing performance. With no two days the same, you will need to be able to adapt accordingly to deal with unexpected challenges as they arise, ensuring issues are resolved promptly while maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders. You will be joining a small team that keep the network running.

Transport Shift Manager Responsibilities

Line manager for your shift, interact and manage up to 50 drivers with the responsibility for driver conduct, compliance and performance

Ensure all jobs are completed, liaising with drivers accordingly, rescheduling work between drivers as required and taking ownership of any queries and problems that arise and see through to resolution

Debrief of drivers at the end of the shift for AM routes and start of shift for PM routes to ensure any issues are sorted quickly and efficiently including contamination, overweight and

overfilled bins/sacks

Manage real time customer issues, queries from the Helpdesk Team and responding quickly to actions registered in the CRM/ERP

Manage smaller disciplinary issues, documenting potential warnings and complete 'Return to Work' meetings when needed

Assist Managers in other assorted duties and general office Adhoc

Transport Shift Manager Job Requirements
  • Experience in managing day to day operations and good problem solver
  • Good level of IT literacy with knowledge of MS office and outlook
  • Geographical knowledge of London areas for route planning
  • C class licence is desirable
  • Vehicle fleet management, ensuring vehicles are maintained accordingly, any defects are investigated and rectified within a reasonable timeframe
