The client:

A very well established, medium sized organisation who always put their customers first and utilise their expertise in transport and logistics. They operate a modern fleet of over 180 vehicles, equipped with the latest safety and tracking technology, and adhere to the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Transport Planner - £36,000 - £38,000 per annum (based on experience)

Purfleet

Shift: Based on a 3 week pattern (42hour week) that requires flexibility across days and nights on a 24/7 operation. Note that the night shift will be Monday to Friday.

Average of 42 hours working per week - 31.5 in week 1 , 42 in week 2, 52.5 In week 3.

Transport Planner Role summary:

  • The role entails the efficient planning of drivers delivery schedule and updating plans to fit the business needs.
  • Manage the delivery operation process efficiently from order acceptance to order invoice
  • Daily input of KPIs, delivery and collection issues, preparing paperwork
  • Provide the best customer satisfaction with prompt response and drive Innovation in efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Prioritise workload and deal with a demanding transport plan, planning for multiple customers for next day and same day deliveries
  • Meet transport legislation commitments
  • Monitor fleet maintenance requirements and liaise with the Fleet Department
  • Liaise with Customers to help facilitate best practice for them

Experience needed in the role of Transport Planner:

  • Previous experience as a Transport Planner role essential
  • Organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks using your own initiative at the same time
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of the WTD, Drivers Hours, Tachograph and Transport legislation
  • Ability to prioritize own workload but also be able to work as part of a team
  • Must have an analytical skill, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Conversant in IT skills e.g., Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and CRM systems.
