Long-Term Teaching Assistant Position (1:1 Support)

Class People are actively seeking a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to support a new Year 6 student on a 1:1 basis, starting as soon as possible and continuing until July 2025. This role is ideal for someone with experience in behavioural support who is dedicated to helping children achieve their full potential.

Position Details:

  • Role: Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)
  • Student: Year 6
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: Until July 2025
  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:15 PM (term time only)
  • Breaks: Comfort break after supervised student breaks, including a lunch break from 1:15 PM - 1:45 PM

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • 1:1 Student Support: Provide dedicated assistance to the assigned student, focusing on individual needs, particularly in behaviour management, to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Behavioural Support: Work closely with the student to develop coping strategies, emotional regulation, and social skills, using positive reinforcement and tailored behavioural management techniques.
  • Academic Assistance: Support the student’s engagement with class activities, helping with comprehension and task completion as needed.
  • Supervision: Ensure the student’s safety and engagement during break and lunch times, creating a structured and supportive routine.
  • Communication with Staff: Liaise regularly with the classroom teacher, SENCO, and other staff to communicate progress, challenges, and adjustments to the support plan.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of the student’s progress, behaviour, and any incidents, sharing updates with relevant team members to contribute to ongoing support planning.
  • Adaptability: Be prepared to adjust support strategies based on the student’s evolving needs, maintaining flexibility and a student-centered approach.
