Chartered Accountant/Financial Controller

Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm
£55,000 - £65,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Our client is looking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Chartered Accountant/Financial Controller to join their team for a successful and well-established Waste Management company. You will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the financial operations of the organisation. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with extensive knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, excellent analytical skills, and strong attention to detail.
You must be a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CIMA or ACCA qualified) to be considered for this role and have previous experience working within the waste management, recycling or haulage industry.
Your main responsibility will be to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial records, while also providing valuable financial insights and recommendations. You will work closely with various departments and senior management to develop and implement financial strategies and initiatives that drive profitability and growth.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage financial systems and cash flow
- Provide financial advice to owners
- Review the company's systems and analyse risk
- Perform tests to check financial information and systems to enable processes to be implemented
- Maintain accounting records and prepare accounts and management information monthly for trading business’s & property portfolio’s
- Be open to discussions with owners and factual on areas of business improvement
- Maintain close links with Insurance companies for negotiating of yearly terms
- Deal with all legal entities pertaining to the companies
- Direct contact with lawyers, company accountants, tax advisers and bank account managers
- Manage all new site purchasing and negotiate company bank loans
- Broker all finance for vehicles and plant
- Manage junior colleagues and office team
- Prepare yearend accounts for all companies in readiness for auditing
- Liaise with external auditors and deal with any financial irregularities or issues as they arise
- Produce reports and recommendations following audits
- Prepare financial management reports, including financial planning and forecasting
- Negotiate terms with suppliers, (should it be required)
The Package
- Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
- £55,000 - £65,000 DOE Salary increase after probation period
