Salary: Salary £50,000 - £55,000 (Depending on Experience)

Working hours Monday to Friday 8.30am – 17.30pm

Transport Manager – The Role:
As a result of ongoing growth and expansion Rainham Steel a leading UK steel stockholder with over 50 years of heritage requires a Transport manager to work at our head office based in Rainham, Essex.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport manager to join the business in Rainham where we specialise in reinforcing bar fabrication along with the supply of reinforcement and other steel products.
Transport Manager – Key Responsibilities:
- Running a fleet of vehicles and being the CPC holder for the business
- Manage daily transport operations, ensuring timely delivery of goods while optimising costs
- Working alongside the route planner overseeing multi drop deliveries for a mixed fleet of arctic and rigid vehicles
- Monitor vehicle utilisation and maintenance schedules to ensure operational efficiency.
- Management of all RTC’s and incidents involving fleet vehicles
- Day to day management of all drivers and route planner including tachograph compliance, working time directives, recruitment and disciplinaries
- Manage and maintain current silver FORS
- Liaise with the customer in relation to booking times and references also delays and possible issues with deliveries.
- Full compliance with company policies, standards and legal regulations, Reference Road haulage operations and health and safety at work regulations.
Transport Manager – You:
- The successful candidate will need to have experience in fleet Management for a minimum of 5 years
- Knowledge of driver’s hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation
- CPC holder
- Be ambitious, hardworking, driven and self-motivated with a desire to learn and succeed with excellent communication and customer service skills
- Confident in developing relationships with sites and customers with the ability to liaise at all levels
- Ability to thrive under pressure
- Willingness and flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication with accuracy and attention to detail is key
