Premier Recruitment Group has the privilege to recruit on behalf of our very prestigious client based in Rainham, East London, Essex. We are recruiting for experienced and forward thinking QA Assistant. This is full time and permanent position and working for very well established company. Very interesting and varied role with a scope for progression.

Work Pattern: Interchanging shift

06.00 - 14.00 (Mon - Thur) 06.00 - 13.00 (Fri)

13.30 - 21.45 (Mon - Thur) 12.45 - 19.45 (Fri)

Overall purpose of job:

To monitor both packing hall and mill activities to ensure the product is being processed to company's quality standards. This will include product quality checks at line start-ups and change overs, packaging and pack quality checks, pack weight control and metal detector/X-ray machine performance. To take the appropriate action if products do not conform to our quality requirements once.

Main Tasks:

  • To be able to manage your own shift once training is completed and raise awareness to both QA and technical team if any issues identified within shift.
  • To monitor and assess incoming product against the purchase specification
  • Preparing product assessment including the daily taste panel.
  • Preparing samples for analysis, recording details and arranging for them to be sent to the required laboratory, recording results when received.
  • To assess and monitor the incoming packaging against artwork and specification. Keep the packaging library updated with the relevant packaging
  • To monitor and report on product returns and assist in the control of returns and rework.
  • Carrying out routine hygiene, glass and hard plastic and other audits (quality system internal audits).
  • Collect regular product samples for further analysis
  • Assisting with Technical Assistant with Packaging DMRs and investigating the issue.
  • Assisting and supporting the Technical Assistant & Controller when required.
  • Support the technical manager for the implementation and compliance of the FEMAS and BRCGS standards at all times.

Person specification:

  • Experience in a Technical/Quality Assurance role in the food industry is preferred.
  • Flexible working times as QA work to shift system and weekend work maybe required at certain times.
  • To have a general knowledge of food safety, pest control background would also be advantageous.
  • Good communicator and to be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word & Outlook.
  • To work in a small team and be able to make decisions regarding the quality of our products as and when required.
  • Food science degree will be a plus.
