You'll be responsible for maintaining financial control and reporting, handling transactional processing, and management accounting. Job title: Accounts Assistant

Location: Near Ramsgate, Kent

Salary: £24,000 - £27,000

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm with ½ hour for lunch

Hybrid: No, this is an office based role

Benefits: Pension contribution matched up to 7%, retail discount portal, parking, 23 days A/L + BH's, use 2-3 for Christmas shut down

Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable transactions, including weekly supplier payments, control, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Handle bank and cash processing, control, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Manage monthly expense processing, control, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Assist in monthly accrual and prepayment accounting and reporting from the Balance Sheet.
  • Conduct monthly departmental spend and P&L analysis, reporting actual to budget.
  • Reconcile and report annual and monthly spend returns for the Office for National Statistics.
  • Ensure monthly GRNI control and reconciliation.
  • Perform monthly intercompany reconciliation.
  • Monitor and reconcile EDI on a daily basis, including set up when required.
  • Handle accounts receivable processing, credit control, and reconciliation when needed.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reconciliation.
  • Complete any other duties reasonably assigned.

Skills and experience needed for this position:

  • Previous experience in accounts payable or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial control and reporting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
