Our client is hiring a Sous Chef to work alongside our Head Chef in creating unforgettable dining experiences for our guests, from weddings and events. This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious chef with a flair for innovation, quality, and efficiency.

About the Role

As our Sous Chef, you will oversee daily kitchen activities, assist in menu creation, and ensure that our food quality consistently exceeds expectations. You’ll be a key player in maintaining a five-star food hygiene rating, managing stock and ordering, and supporting the kitchen team to ensure everything runs smoothly, even in the Head Chef’s absence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on Food Preparation: Work with the Head Chef to prepare meals for weddings, events, and the restaurant
  • Team Leadership: Guide junior kitchen staff and lead the team in the Head Chef's absence
  • Menu Curation: Contribute creative ideas and help design various menus
  • Cost Management: Order food and manage preparation efficiently to maintain budget control
  • Quality and Consistency: Ensure all dishes meet our high standards, from taste to presentation
  • Event and Service Management: Take charge of weddings and restaurant service when the Head Chef is unavailable
  • Organisation and Compliance: Oversee EHO paperwork, maintain kitchen organisation, and manage food rotation and stock
  • Mentorship: Train new kitchen team members on our standards and systems for both banqueting and restaurant service

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Formal Culinary Training: Strong foundation in culinary arts
  • Experience in Banqueting and Restaurant Environments: Knowledge of food and beverage regulations
  • Organisational Strength: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multitask under pressure
  • Creative Problem Solving: A proactive approach to challenges and opportunities in the kitchen
