Reed Engineering are pleased to be working with an established manufacturer who specialises in the design and manufacture of process machinery for the pharmaceutical sector.

They are seeking hard-working and capable mechanical engineers to join their team as fitters, to undertake factory machine assembly and subsequent site installation and servicing.

Job Overview:

  • Mechanical assembly of full machines, including large mechanical machines with varying degrees of complexity and customisation.
  • Mechanical assembly of sub-assemblies, such as gearboxes, chain drives, leadscrews, bearing housings, etching logos, and serial numbers.
  • Working to mechanical engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Fault finding, troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem-solving.
  • Basic use of tool-room machinery such as drills, saws, lathes, and mills.
  • Completion of inspection and quality documents post-assembly.
  • Packing and crating of machines upon completion.
  • Field service work, both domestic and international.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Preferably NVQ, BTEC, HNC, HND, or similar in an engineering-related discipline.
  • Significant weighting given to time-served apprentices.
  • Experience in engineering, manufacturing, and technical or industrial environments.
  • Preferable: basic electrical knowledge for cable runs and basic pneumatics.
  • Preferable: Driving licence.
  • Preferable: Forklift licence.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and consistently meet completion deadlines.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
  • Willingness to apply extra effort if required to meet project or team goals.
  • Note: Role includes site work, including installation and commissioning of machines, with both domestic and international travel.

Job Type: Full-timeSchedule: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4.30 pm. Overtime available as and when needed.

Experience:

  • Machine assembly or mechanical fitting: 3 years (preferred).
  • Field service: 3 years (preferred).
