Engage Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work 1:1 with a primary-aged pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within an Additional Resource Provision (ARP). This role requires someone who is passionate about supporting children with challenging behaviour, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a nurturing environment.
You will play a key role in providing tailored support to this pupil, using behaviour management strategies and fostering emotional regulation. Your ability to build a strong, trusting relationship will be essential in ensuring the child can fully engage with their learning and develop socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH and challenging behaviour, helping them to engage with the curriculum.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised strategies and support plans.
- Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a positive and proactive manner, using de-escalation techniques.
- Support the emotional and social development of the pupil, promoting positive interactions and self-regulation.
- Adapt learning resources and activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs and learning style.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teachers, parents, and other professionals involved in the child’s care.
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that encourages learning and growth.
- HLTA qualification or extensive experience working with children with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
- Strong understanding of SEMH and behaviour management strategies.
- Experience of working 1:1 with pupils with additional needs in a school setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with the pupil and work collaboratively with staff and parents.
