A role has arisen for a Management Accountant to join an exciting, global PLC in the Reading area. This is the opportunity to take P&L ownership for some key entities including the provision of commentary. This is a temporary role initially on a 3-6 month basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts following a strict timetable in accordance with both U.S. and local GAAP
  • Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly/quarterly VAT returns
  • Support the Finance Managers and look to standardize then improve tasks
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy for all assigned companies
  • Maintain reconciliation schedules for all assigned balance sheet accounts and resolve any unreconciled items within a set period of time
  • Perform various account analyses to explain variances and identify any required adjusting journal entries
  • Familiarity with group accounting policies, internal controls and/or SOX compliance and ensuring all policies and controls are followed to achieve a successful SOX audit.
  • Assist with external & internal audits to ensure all aspects of compliance and control are met
  • Assist with statutory accounts production with responsibility for accurate and timely filings.
  • Assist in analysing and preparing reports, KPI's and performance statistics/graphs that form part of the reporting pack or as ad-hoc reporting
  • Work closely with the designated business area to support, advise and influence operations with the goal of improving business performance
  • Assist with other filings and other non-statutory reporting such as National Statistics returns
  • Proactively work to support other members of the Finance team and participate or lead on any ad-hoc projects
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy

Requirements:

  • High potential part qualified or a newly qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, pivots tables, 'if' statements, lookups as a minimum)
  • Must be organised, efficient and enthusiastic, striving to improve processes and encourage positive change across the business
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems both individually and as a member of a team
  • Possess a positive attitude and an outgoing personality
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of SAP would be a benefit
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to prioritize and work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to travel (ad-hoc) and work flexibly particularly at month end
