The main duties of the Reading based Accounts Assistant will be to support with daily Bookkeeping activities and then also provide assistance on the month end processes as well.

Client Details

This business is one where you will be part of a larger, well established team and you are expected to do all bookkeeping tasks with minimal supervision, some training and support is expected for the more complex month end aspects of the role.

They are just outside central Reading with easy access via public transports with parking on site as well. They are in the office for 3 days a week with 2 working from home. You will report into the Finance Manager who has been in this role for a number of years and is well equipped to support with any queries and onboarding.

Description

As an Accounts Assistant, your role will be to:

* Overseeing accounts payable ledger management using SAGE Accounts.* Processing weekly BACS payments for supplier invoices.* Preparing, reviewing, and submitting VAT returns to HMRC.* Handling TAX, NI, and VAT payments.* Managing the accounts receivable ledger using SAGE 200 Accounts.* Monitoring aged debtors and credit control, including daily allocation of customer payments.* Sending monthly statements to customers and coordinating with management on overdue debts.* Performing month-end bank reconciliations and bookkeeping tasks.* Managing the company's invoice discounting facility, including weekly uploads and monthly reconciliation.* Transferring funds between accounts as required.* Overseeing company credit cards and reconciling statements.* Posting journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.* Uploading new direct debit mandates and processing monthly collections.* Handling and allocating petty cash.* Running bank errands, including cheque deposits.

Profile

The ideal Accounts Assistant will be someone who has worked in a similar position previously and would be able to come in and complete the tasks listed in the job spec, with minimal supervision.
