Our client is on the search for a Assistant Accountant to join their Asset management team. This is an exciting role, just outside of Reading with a highly acclaimed company with excellent reviews, offering a fantastic opportunity for someone at the start of their finance career.

The Assistant Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of Asset Management by providing essential support. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this position is integral to maintaining financial accuracy and efficiency.

Salary goes up to £33,000, contingent on experience.

This office-based position, located on the outskirts of Reading, so a driver's license may be needed for the commute.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Support the Finance Manager to ensure that monthly and annual responsibilities are satisfied in line with expectations.
  • Take ownership of the preparation of monthly management accounts. • Ensure monthly management fees are invoiced in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated accounts, cashflow statements and associated management commentary.
  • Support the preparation of bank compliance certificates in line with agreed facility agreements.
  • Assist the annual tax, accounting, and audit year-end processes.
  • Assist in preparation of payments and communicating supporting documentation to directors for approval.
  • Maintain a relationship with third party operation and maintenance (O&M) providers to ensure financial information is accurate, factual, and received on a timely basis; and site obligations are fulfilled.
  • Assist in execution of activities detailed on monthly to-do lists for each portfolio (e.g., VAT returns, tax returns, compliance statements, audit processes, etc.).
  • Ensure revenue is received promptly under the terms of PPAs and ROCs.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the rolling cash forecast in conjunction with client expectations.
  • Support in the preparation of annual statutory accounts for each of the portfolios.
  • Support in the preparation of analytical reviews.

EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

Essential:

  • Able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment with experience of managing competing workloads
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills and time management.
  • Proactive and positive 'can-do’ attitude/willingness to learn

Desirable:

  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV software.
  • Statutory accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge in preparing consolidated financial statements
  • Understanding of complex group structures/intercompany arrangements.
  • Experience in financial compliance reporting/debt facilities and associated accounting entries.

EDUCATION

  • AAT qualified or equivalent, Finance Graduate, or someone who has started their ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualification
  • Training in relevant management and cost accounting principle
