This role is to join an established firm of design engineers, specialising in mechanical and electrical services design across the built environment, where you will be working on some really high-profile projects including highly technical data centre designs. You’ll be joining a company who work with leading architects, designers and contractors and have an excellent reputation for delivery, quality and reliability of their services.
This Senior Mechanical Design role is key to succession and will suit an engineer with an ambition to play a significant role in a business.
Progression
- This is a great position to develop within, and you will be initially supported by a project director, but with the emphasis on you being given space to work under your own initiative.

Responsibilities
- Take the Clients brief along with responsibility for the technical fulfilment
- Attend project meetings with Clients and other Design Team Members, Contractors etc.
- Carry out condition surveys, feasibility studies, report writing etc.
- Carry out site surveys for projects, to obtain all relevant information required for carrying out scheme design.
- Carry out detailed scheme designs enabling competitive tenders to be obtained for the works.
- Write specifications for the works.
- Correspond with other design team members and the Client on technical issues.
- Carry out calculations, both manual and by using computer-based systems.
- Provide budget costings as and when required.
- Attend site progress meetings as and when required, together with monitoring Contractor’s
- Assist and supervise junior design staff.
- To work with a focus on low carbon design.
Experience Required
- Building Services Degree, Mechanical Design Degree or other related higher educational qualification (HNC/HND)
- Preferably chartered or working towards chartership.
- Experience within a building services design role in a consultancy environment.
- Experience is likely to be a minimum of 5-6 years and include calculations, drawings, specifications
- Hold a full UK driving license
