Eligibility:

To apply for this role, you must either have SC Clearance or be able to obtain Security Clearance. This means you must be a British Citizen and have been living in the UK permanently for the last 5 years.



Role Overview:

As an Architect, you will be a part of a small, fast-paced, agile delivery team. Using agile methodology and DevOps techniques, you will design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure to support workloads for customers in the RAF.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft technical Statements of Requirements for cloud-native applications and platform solutions.
  • Define and assess technical architecture and solutions.
  • Define technical and business requirements.
  • Produce high- and low-level technical designs.
  • Produce high-level operating model designs.
  • Define security controls and architecture in line with cloud and application security best practices.
  • Define and select appropriate DevOps pipelines, processes, and tools.
  • Select suitable coding languages, testing strategies, and tools.
  • Define tools and practices for monitoring and supporting cloud applications.
  • Define service management practices/processes.
  • Architect and support the delivery of on-premise virtualization solutions (VMware ESX, vCenter).
  • Architect and support the delivery of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS public cloud solutions (AWS & Azure).


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience with contemporary software engineering, including the selection and application of appropriate technology and patterns.
  • Consultancy experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with RAF or MOD is highly desirable.
  • Confidence in working within a team developing full-stack solutions.
  • Experience in defining, installing, or supporting networking solutions.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices such as virtualization, containerization, CI/CD, and IaC.
  • Experience working in agile environments using methodologies like Scrum and Kanban.
