Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, invoices, receipts, and payments.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements, for management review.
  • Assist with payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Liaise with external accountants and auditors as required.
  • Ensure compliance with financial and legal regulations specific to the social services sector.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with UK financial regulations and tax codes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience in the social services or non-profit sector is a plus.
  • AAT qualification or equivalent is desirable.
