Site Support Assistant

• Salary: £23,500 – £25,979 per annum

This local school in Reading is seeking a dedicated Site Support Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security, safety, cleanliness, and general maintenance of the school premises. This role is vital in providing a conducive learning environment for our students and staff.

Day to Day of the role:

• Ensure the buildings and school site are secure, particularly outside of school hours.
• Perform general porterage duties as needed.
• Undertake basic maintenance tasks including heating, lighting, plumbing, security systems, painting, and decorating to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Conduct regular and spot cleaning to maintain a suitable environment.
• Arrange facilities for hirers as specified.
• Maintain the school minibuses, including refuelling and cleaning.
• Manage optional weekend lettings with additional remuneration.
• Store equipment, furniture, and materials securely to prevent unauthorised access and accidents.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements, identifying and addressing potential hazards.
• Assist in maintaining the school grounds to ensure they are fit for purpose.
• Perform additional duties as required by the Site Manager.
• Participate in training and performance development activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in a similar role involving maintenance and security.
• Basic knowledge of heating, lighting, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to perform minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
• A commitment to the school’s ethos of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
