Coltech is partnered with a prestigious consultancy client who are looking for an experiencedIT Financial Management Consultantto join their team for a 6 month contract.

As an IT Financial Management Consultant specialising in Technology Business Management (TBM), you will guide clients through the adoption and implementation of the TBM framework to optimise their IT spend and align IT investments with business value. You will leverage your expertise in TBM tools such as Apptio, Magic Orange, and Nicus to provide insights and achieve cost transparency and accountability across IT services and assets.

Job Responsibilities

This enhanced role focuses on leveraging the Technology Business Management model and tools to drive cost transparency, optimise IT spending, and align IT investments with business objectives, ultimately enabling clients to make informed decisions and achieve sustainable growth.

  • Lead the adoption of the Technology Business Management (TBM) framework within client organisations, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of IT spending and its impact on business outcomes.
  • Conduct detailed assessments of clients' current IT financial management practices, identifying opportunities for enhancement through TBM principles and practices.
  • Implement and configure TBM tools such as Apptio, Magic Orange, and Nicus to automate IT financial management processes, providing accurate and real-time visibility into IT costs and value.
  • Develop and execute strategies for IT cost optimization and rationalisation, leveraging TBM data to identify inefficiencies and areas for cost savings.
  • Facilitate the alignment of IT expenses with business objectives, enhancing decision-making processes through improved cost transparency and accountability.
  • Advise clients on establishing IT chargeback and showback models, using TBM methodologies to accurately allocate IT costs to business units, fostering a culture of cost awareness and responsibility.
  • Collaborate with IT and finance leaders to create reports and dashboards that highlight key financial metrics, cost drivers, and investment opportunities, supporting strategic planning and performance management.
  • Provide training and coaching to clients on TBM practices and tool utilisation, ensuring the sustainability of IT financial management improvements.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in TBM practices, tools, and technologies, continuously enhancing our consulting offerings and delivering innovative solutions to clients


Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, IT, or related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensiveexperience in IT financial management, with experience focused on implementing and managing TBM frameworks and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of TBM principles, practices, and tools (Apptio, Magic Orange, Nicus) with proven experience in deploying these solutions in complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of IT operations, budgeting, cost accounting, and financial analysis, with the ability to translate technical IT data into actionable business insights.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with a track record of leading successful IT financial management transformations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with clients at all levels and driving change in large organisations.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, Certified TBM Executive (CTBME), Apptio Certified Expert) are highly desirable.
