Chef - Full Time - Reading

£26,000 - £29,000 p/annum

Do you have experience working in hospitality or catering? Do you want to work in an inclusive, rewarding environment?

A fantastic school in Reading are looking to welcome a Chef to their team this term, to provide catering services for their students and staff on a term time basis!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver meal and snack plans tailored to the dietary and sensory needs of young people
  • Ensure meals are varied, balanced, and cost-effective, while being enjoyable for the young people
  • Lead and motivate kitchen staff, fostering high performance and engagement
  • Communicate clearly regarding the ordering, preparation, and delivery of food
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, food hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness
  • Manage inventory, stock rotation, and accurate record-keeping of food supplies
  • Oversee special functions or events as needed, including out-of-hours catering
  • Work closely with the Business Manager to ensure best practices are followed
  • Support and collaborate with education and support staff to build young people's cooking skills
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and health and safety standards
Skills & Experience:
  • Previous experience in kitchen management, ideally in a care or educational setting
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements, allergen awareness, and food safety standards
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle administrative duties effectively
  • Creativity in menu planning and cost management
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
