Position: Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Location: Reading with sites across the Thames Valley

Salary: 50-65k neg (DOE), car allowance and excellent benefits package

Our Client: Is a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out company. They deliver vital projects across a range of sectors including health, education, highways, justice, defence, aviation, water and environment.
They are the primary non-infrastructure design and construct partner for Thames Water in the Thames Valley area delivering asset improvements that will further improve the environment and the quality of drinking water.
Work is mainly in the NW quadrant of the Thames Valley region to the north of the M4 from Reading to Chippenham, and multiple projects around Oxford and in the Cotswolds.
The projects that are being delivered include civil engineering and M&E works and vary in value from 3-25m. Annual framework turnover will be more than 45m.

The Role: Drive and manage the EICA elements of various wastewater projects for Thames Water. Manage subcontractors, designers and feed into the overall delivery of the project, ensuring programme and budgets are constraints are met. Safety and Quality are paramount, and you will be responsible for inspections and testing.
The Project Engineer will be fundamental member of the MEICA Team, Project Team and the wider Thames Water Framework Team.

Responsibilities: Management and assistance in the placement of subcontracts and material orders.
Interpretation of discipline related drawings.
Technical expertise in the placement of subcontracts and material orders.
Vetting of subcontractors, inspecting their production, quality and installation.
Planning and programming. Supporting the wider Project Team to develop project programmes, prepare short term programmes for specific activities and contribute to regular collaborative planning sessions.
Maintain quality assurance records in accordance with Company procedures.
Reviewing of subcontractors designs in accordance with TW Standards, for buildability, operation and maintenance.
Supporting with production of operating and maintenance manuals.
Attending site progress meetings and production of reports.
Coordination of MEICA works to support design progress with the Design Manager.
Inspection of equipment as required at factory and on-site including FATs and SATs.
Advising the Quantity Surveyors of changes to specification and the financial impact on a project.
Technical assistance to the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor regarding contractual disputes if required.
Client liaison and correspondence.
Actioning snagging resolution and maintenance repairs during the defect's liability period.
Site supervision of sub-contractors during critical activities.
Supporting site commissioning if required.


Responsibilities: Electrical Engineering Qualification.
CITB 5 Day SMSTS (desirable).
CSCS Card (desirable).
EUSR Blue Card (desirable).
Experience of working in a contractor-based background ideally within the water industry on sewage and water treatment works.
Understanding of NEC4 condition contract and budget control.
Self-motivated and can work in a team environment.
Attention to detail is critical.
Good communication skills.
Must be capable of supervising site staff if required.
Knowledgeable in project engineer/management techniques.
