An exciting opportunity has opened with a leading building services contractor, known for its engineering-led approach and reputation for delivering high-profile projects across various sectors. Following a series of prestigious project wins, this contractor is expanding and looking for a skilled Mechanical Project Manager. This role focuses on a new, high-tech commercial building project in Reading valued at 10 million M&E, with installations set to begin on-site in the next two months.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical infrastructure, including welding, pipefitting, ductwork, HVAC, and chillers. Prior experience in delivering shell-and-core mechanical packages for commercial office, aviation, life sciences, or critical services projects for tier-one contractors is essential. This role is ideal for an engineering-driven professional eager to play a key part in one of the company's most critical projects. Successful performance in this role can lead to progression to Contracts Manager within a years' time.

Responsibilities / Skills & Experience

  • Qualifications: Degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Project Management Experience: Proven track record managing large-scale mechanical infrastructure projects, specifically shell-and-core mechanical packages.
  • Core Competencies: Experience in welding, pipefitting, ductwork, HVAC systems, and chillers.
  • Sector Experience: Background in delivering mechanical projects in commercial offices, aviation, life sciences, or critical services, especially for tier-one contractors.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead site teams and manage subcontractors, ensuring high-quality, timely installations.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the main point of contact for mechanical issues.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure all work adheres to strict health and safety standards and relevant legislation.
  • Budget Management: Oversee procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring purchases align with project budgets.
  • Progress Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management and clients, highlighting project progress, forecasts, and adjustments.

Remuneration Package

  • Competitive Salary: 75,000 to 90,000, based on experience and skills.
