Stonewater’s vision is to ensure everyone has the opportunity to have a place that they can call home. Stock condition surveys are a core function for ensuring Stonewater’s vision is delivered and that our homes are safe, warm and secure. To meet this challenge, Stonewater are establishing a new, national stock condition team to lead on the assessment of its homes.

This is a new and fantastic opportunity for housing and property professionals to be part of a brand-new team, setting the standards for property data collection and building the knowledge to inform how Stonewater invests over the next 30 years.

Liaising with residents and leaseholders, housing management, customer services and other internal and external agencies, you’ll ensure all homes and communal areas are safe, warm and secure by recording and actioning any hazards, safety concerns and repairs identified during surveys.

Contributing to the continuous improvement of Stonewater’s Stock condition strategies and activities, you’ll accurately update Stonewater’s information on housing stock condition to assist in programming and compliance with the Decent Homes Standard. Continuous Professional Development is equally important and you will keep abreast of relevant regulation changes and maintain awareness of the Decent Homes Standard and related legislation, Building Regulations, British Standards and Codes of Practice related to the construction industry.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold an HNC level (or equivalent professional qualification) in construction, housing, management or property.
  • Have proven knowledge of the decent homes standard, component lifecycles, HHSRS Rating system and domestic building construction methods and faults.
  • Have strong knowledge of building components, common issues, hazards and proven ability to diagnose and remedy defects.
  • Have proven ability to achieve targets and prioritise, plan and manage own workload.
  • Be committed to keeping abreast of changes in housing legislation and construction methods and contribute to service improvements.
  • Be able to deal with challenging situations with empathy and present in a professional and positive manner.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate clearly and accurately with a wide range of internal and external customers.
  • Have excellent administrative and IT skills including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Housing Management systems.

Appointment to this role will be subject to satisfactory references and possession of a valid Right to Work document.
