AWE is recruiting for Project Manager to join the In-Service Support Programme.

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking. Due to the classification of activities, this role will require the candidate to work on site.

Package: £48,000 to £60,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience).

Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight.

As the Project Manager, you would be responsible for bringing together various specialists, including our science and engineering teams through strong stakeholder management and resource forecasting, to complete a critical company milestone for the customer. Your role will entail:

  • Deliver assigned projects in accordance with requirements, operational constraints, time, cost and quality.

  • Bring together multidisciplinary teams at a local level to deliver team and personal objectives safely and securely to meet our operational plans.

  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with people at all levels, and who is looking to expand on their stakeholder management and knowledge as a Project Manager in a unique environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage projects in accordance with requirements, operational constraints, time, cost, and quality.

  • Lead the planning of the task / project, reporting progress through the monthly reporting cycle.

  • Lead, support and initiate change against the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMP).

  • Lead, initiate and perform risk and opportunity identification and subsequent actions.

  • Lead, initiate and Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiencies.

Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience working within a Nuclear Licenced Site or similarly highly regulated complex organisation would be beneficial.

  • Some technical knowledge (scientific or engineering based) would be advantageous but not a necessity.

  • Skills to create and update all project documentation, including project management plans and supporting risks, assumptions, actions, issues & dependencies.

  • Experience of project management tools and techniques for budgeting, change management and project goal setting.

  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload, resources, and deadlines within high pressure complex environments.

  • Knowledge of methods to track project deliverables including implementing key performance indicators and producing project progress reports.

  • Risk techniques to manage project risks and interdependencies with efficient mitigation and contingency plans.

  • Ability to solve problems and deliver results through creative solutions and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.

  • You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 10 years in order to apply for DV clearance.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
