Orka Financial are recruiting for a highly motivated and reliable Credit Controller to join their client based in Reading, to manage and take full responsibility for the credit function. This is a standalone role where you will be accountable for the end-to-end credit management process, including overseeing weekly cash flow, ageing debt, and ensuring timely collections.

You will play a key role in maintaining the company's financial health and will be the first point of contact for any credit-related queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Credit Management: Oversee the entire credit control process, from setting up credit limits to monitoring payment terms and ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts.
  • Debt & Cash Flow: Monitor and manage ageing debt, ensuring accounts are kept up-to-date. Regularly report on the cash flow forecast and work towards reducing overdue debt.
  • Cash Allocation: Ensure that all incoming payments are processed correctly, allocated to the appropriate accounts, and reflected accurately in the accounting system.
  • Client Relationships: Build strong relationships with customers to resolve any payment issues, disputes, or queries in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Reporting: Produce and maintain regular reports on aged debt, cash flow forecasts, and other key performance indicators related to credit control.
  • Dispute Resolution: Work closely with the sales and finance teams to resolve customer disputes and queries, minimising any delays in payment.
  • Credit Risk Assessment: Regularly assess the credit risk of existing and new customers and make recommendations for changes to credit limits or payment terms as necessary.
  • Compliance & Policies: Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements regarding credit control, debt collection, and invoicing.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and recommend improvements to credit control processes to increase efficiency and reduce debtor days.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in credit control
  • Strong understanding of credit management principles and cash flow forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing and reducing aged debt, with a focus on cash flow management.
  • Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced skills).

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of international credit control processes is an advantage.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.).
