Electromechanical Door Engineer

Salary: £43,000 per annum – OTE £55,000pa (inclusive of overtime and bonuses)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7.30am - 5pm (Friday 3.30pm finish)

Location: M3 Corridor: To cover work in Central London, the Southwest, and the Channel Islands. (approx. 30 mile radius of Reading).

Our client, a leading engineering company based in Biggleswade, is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Industrial Door Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual with a strong mechanical and electrical engineering background, particularly in maintaining industrial doors or similar equipment. The role involves travel to multiple locations, ensuring industrial systems are operating at optimal efficiency.

Ideally you need to be based within the M3 corridor to be within commuting distance (approx. 30 mile radius of Reading).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance of industrial door installations (majority will be the company’s own products).
  • Carry out occasional repairs and replace parts on door installations.
  • Submit detailed post-visit service reports via the company’s online system.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure strong client relationships.
  • Travel daily to sites, with occasional stays away for up to a week.
  • Weekend work may be required on occasion, with days off in lieu.
  • Possibility of overseas assignments.
  • Undergo security/DBS clearance early in the role.

Essential Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in maintaining industrial doors (e.g., roller shutters, high-speed doors, sectional doors, sliding gates) or a background in lift or overhead crane engineering.
  • Mechanical and electrical engineering skills, with the ability to read engineering drawings.
  • 18th Edition electrical qualifications.
  • IPAF and DHF certifications.
  • CSCS card holder with a strong understanding of workplace safety.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude.
