Corporate Tax Manager

We are working with an exciting Accountancy Firm based in Reading who are looking to make a crucial hire for a Corporate Tax Manager. The client pride themselves on their superb retention rate with a targeted focus on fostering a collaborative and transparent working environment, headcount has doubled since 2020. This candidate should be ACA/CTA qualified with significant tax experience, including compliance, advisory projects, and HMRC enquiries.

Location: Reading - 5 days onsite with potential flex - based a short walk from Reading train station

Salary: £70,000 + 10% bonus

Duties:

  • Lead UK and cross-border tax advisory projects, reporting to tax partners.
  • Oversee compliance work for larger or more complex clients.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and contacts.
  • Identify opportunities to offer additional services, such as corporate taxes, VAT, personal taxes, payroll taxes, and corporate finance support.
  • Act with integrity and prioritize the Firm's best interests in all dealings.
  • Understand and manage various types of risk, adhering to the firm's policies and legal/regulatory rules.
  • Consider and manage reputational, operational, and credit risks in all client interactions.
  • Show urgency and understand how work quality and speed impact the Firm's client service.
  • Apply a solution-based approach to problem-solving and conduct research for client assignments.
  • Identify areas for improvement in clients' business processes and provide recommendations.
  • Take primary responsibility for the financial performance of your client and project work.
  • Show commitment to work and team success with a positive attitude and initiative to improve processes.
  • Treat colleagues with fairness and respect, fostering opportunities for everyone to succeed.
  • Give and receive constructive feedback to enhance personal and team growth.
  • Influence and shape activities both internally and externally.
  • Coach staff by sharing experience and knowledge.
  • Provide on-the-job training for colleagues.
  • Engage in service line, office, and firm-wide activities.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • ACA/CTA or equivalent qualification is essential.
  • Extensive experience in Corporate Tax and accounting across advisory and compliance projects.
  • Strong passion for client service.
  • Possess a solid understanding of UK corporate tax concepts and UKGAAP accounting fundamentals, including deferred tax.
  • Provide fast and intuitive analysis, accurately interpreting data, financial statements, and source documents.
  • Effectively understand and manage risk issues.
  • Proven ability to develop new work.
  • Serve as a role model, providing on-the-job coaching to team members.
  • Consistently adhere to the firm's risk management policies.
