The Head of Accounts offers a diverse range of responsibilities from managing essential bookkeeping and invoicing tasks, to preparing insightful financial reports and overseeing VAT submissions. Nestled in the picturesque grounds of our client's estate in the South East of England, you'll work hand-in-hand with the Estate Manager on budgeting, and play a crucial role in updating the financial systems. The Company: A historic family farming estate, surrounded by picturesque mixed farmland, home to several thriving diversification enterprises. At the core of the estate is a dedicated and professional team that takes great pride in preserving and advancing the estate's legacy for generations to come.

Role Responsibilities:

  • To handle daily bookkeeping tasks including raising invoices, managing accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations, payroll, VAT returns, and liaising with creditors and debtors
  • To manage monthly invoicing for the various enterprises, ensuring a timely collection of deposits
  • To prepare monthly financial reports (P&L), manage VAT submissions, liaise with HMRC, the bank, and estate accountants for end-of-year accounts
  • To work with the Estate Manager to create budgets, forecasts and cash flow analyses
  • To assist in transitioning the bookkeeping system to a cloud-based platform
  • To provide general administrative support, assisting the Estate PA when required

Skills you will need:

Essential:

  • Proven accounting experience
  • A strong and proven knowledge of accounting principles and concepts
  • Proficient in accounting software e.g. Landmark and Xero
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • The ability to manage confidential and sensitive financial information with discretion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A team player, able to work within a team and autonomously when required
  • An understanding and passion for agriculture and rural affairs
  • A practical and adaptable work approach
