Head of Finance - Reading (hybrid) - £70,000 to £75,000Excited to be working exclusively with this PE back Healthcare business with their head office based in Reading.

With the appointment of a new CFO, comes the growth plan and exit for the PE house within 3-5 years, looking to nearly treble their operating sites in the UK during this time.

You'll be working closely with the CFO, but ultimately will have complete oversight of the day to day running of the Finance function.

Having met the CFO and spent some time with him I can tell you he has stacks of experience to offer but will not "micro manage" you, this isn't his style, he is supportive but happy to "let you get on with it".

Below you will see notes taken from our meeting with the CFO and what they feel is important in this hire, you'll need to be, and able to demonstrate that you are:

  • Ambitious - This role does have the potential to step into the CFO role in the future.
  • 100% Reliable
  • Experienced in managing a team, not just managing but LEADING a team
  • Up to speed on systems roll-outs/integrations and process improvement - Where can you make improvements?
  • Not afraid to have tough conversations if you feel members of the team are failing/need extra training
  • Able to partner with non fiance individuals across the business
  • Know how to put a set of Management Accounts together (you will have a management accountant in your team but you need to be able to demonstrate you have this experience)
  • Attitude - Above all else, attitude matters, someone not afraid to come in, roll their sleeves up and get on with things - a "can do" attitude

A bit more about the role....

  • Mentor and guide the wider finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development
  • Be the first point of contact for the external Auditors
  • Produce Board papers in conjunction with the CFO, inclusive of putting together commentary for the Board
  • Cultivate relationships with external partners and provide financial insights to support decision-making processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function to streamline processes and optimise operations
  • Maintaining a persistently professional yet friendly demeanour in leading financial business partnering initiatives through collaborating with operations and sales, as well as the CFO in order to develop the company's vision for the future

About you....

  • You will be a qualified Accountant with proven experience leading and developing a small team within a fast-paced environment.
  • Any PE experience would be helpful but NOT a must
  • Ideally we are looking for someone with a background of working within the SME environment
  • Systems and processes experience is vital, some sort of systems implementation/roll-out
  • Any experience in a Acquisitions/Integration type of environment would be helpful but NOT a must
