Package: £37,860 - £56,800 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

AWE is currently recruiting for a Firmware Engineer for the Non-Nuclear Components Group.

This role is ideally suited to an Electronics Engineer with experience of FPGA design and verification, capable of defining firmware requirements and architecting firmware systems.

In growing our capability in this area, we will also be looking to grow your skills and knowledge as an Engineer with opportunities for development and progression across our programmes of work.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to the production and delivery of technical reports and presentations

  • Design and/or verification in either VHDL, SV and/or UVM

  • Contribute to the delivery of the system from concept to realisation

  • Support the progress of designs through product life cycle

  • Understand the hazards and associated risks of any work conducted

  • Maintaining and promote high standards in ESH (Environmental, safety & health), security and quality

Who are we looking for?

We do need you to have the following:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or relevant working experience

  • Previous experience of firmware design or verification

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • Integration of FPGA / SoC systems

  • TCL scripting and SoC

  • Implementation and Verification of designs in VHDL, OSVVM or System Verilog and UVM

  • Knowledge of DO-254, IEC 61508 or similar standards

You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.

  • You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
