Join a great client who support young people aged 6-16 with Autism spectrum disorder and associated learning needs. We are seeking a dedicated Groundsperson to maintain a school grounds and contribute to our mission of providing the best outcomes for our students.

Day-to-Day of the Role of a Groundsperson :
  • Regularly mow all grass areas and maintain grass at a reasonable length.
  • Manage overgrowth around the site using strimming equipment.
  • Trim hedges and bushes, ensuring they are tidy and safe, while considering wildlife protection legislation.
  • Maintain and liaise with suppliers for the servicing of grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Keep gutters and drains clear across the site.
  • Remove rubbish and empty bins as necessary.
  • Manage weed control routines safely and according to regulations.
  • Perform leaf-clearing and removal across the site.
  • Assist with gritting pathways and drives during winter months.
  • Maintain and repair fences, including painting and treating when necessary.
  • Support the maintenance team with painting, decorating, and general site maintenance.
  • Undertake any other tasks as required, contributing to the overall aims of the school.
Required Skills & Qualifications needed for the Groundsperson:
  • Proven ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrable attention to detail and pride in work.
  • Organised and capable of prioritising own workload.
  • Flexible approach to tasks and hours.
  • Knowledge of safe working principles and Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience with COSHH and understanding the safe use of chemicals.
  • Weed-spraying licence (desirable).
  • Awareness of the impact of work on wildlife and necessary adjustments.
  • Experience in grounds maintenance (essential).
  • Mechanical experience or basic machine maintenance skills (essential).
  • Experience in a school or special needs environment (desirable).
  • First Aid Certificate (desirable).
