Role Summary

To provide professional advice, guidance and support across the project portfolio. Working with the Head of PMO to implement and maintain an enterprise PMO ensuring a uniform approach to Project Management.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Portfolio and Change team to facilitate effective management of the project portfolio.
  • Ensure the PMO provides support across the project portfolio throughout the project lifecycle, including:
    • Preparation and maintenance of project documentation.
    • Preparation and maintenance of risk, issues and actions logs.
    • Co-ordination of project resources, including scheduling and escalation resolution.
    • Production of accurate and timely reporting across the portfolio.
    • Production of accurate and timely resource schedules and project billing forecasts.
    • Ensure accurate time recording and tracking.
    • Management of Change Control authorisation process.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the project management framework, processes and standards.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications & Technical Job Requirements

Essential

  • Recognised Project Management qualification or demonstrable experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word/Excel/Visio.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Experience of working in a PMO/project environment.
  • Experience of leading and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Good analytical, numerical and logic skills.
  • Previous experience of identifying and managing risks and pro-actively addressing problems.
  • Maintaining Reporting and Governance Frameworks.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Documentation configuration management.

Desirable

  • Prior experience of leading a PMO.
  • Prior experience of enterprise wide resource management.
  • Working with Government Departments.

Further Information

  • Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
  • Successful candidates will be expected to attend any required training courses to ensure that the Portfolio and Change Centre of Excellence has marketable skills.
