Position: Groundsman
Location: Near Caversham, Reading
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM (half-hour lunch break)
Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Groundsman to maintain the beautiful grounds of a historic house near Caversham, Reading. This role would be ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and has experience in gardening, greenkeeping, or manual labour in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve landscape areas by mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and weeding.
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, including tractors, mowers, and chainsaws.
- Chop trees and manage plant diseases and pests using appropriate tools and chemicals.
- Inspect the grounds regularly for potential safety hazards and perform necessary repairs or improvements.
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides as required.
- Work closely with the foreman and other team members to discuss and assign daily tasks.
Requirements:
- Experience working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labour.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Previous experience as a gardener, greenkeeper, or similar role is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
- Must be comfortable using various groundskeeping equipment and tools.
