Senior Lecturer (Renewable Energy, Engineering and the Environment)

Full time (35 hrs/wk), permanent

Remote place of work (an expectation of six days per annum in Horizons office, Reading)

Salary range £50,000 to £60,000 per annum plus benefits

UCEMs exciting new programmes require exciting new talent. Key skills and experience in the UCEMs growth areas that we are looking for are:


Renewable Energy, Engineering and the Environment

  • Able to support the development and launch of new programmes, most specifically a new post-graduate programme: MSc Renewable Energy and Technology (proposed launch Autumn 2026)
  • Ideally have a blend of industry and academic experience, although we would be particularly keen to hear from experienced construction quantity surveyors or construction managers looking to move into teaching and research
  • Currently working as a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor level in a related discipline

  • Cert HE/L4 Building Services Engineering Senior Technician (proposed launch Autumn 2026)
  • Cert HE/L4 BEMS (Building Energy Management Systems) Controls Engineer (proposed launch Autumn 2026)

This is a key academic position within the School of the Built Environment, delivering, developing and monitoring the performance of postgraduate and/or undergraduate modules within a specific subject discipline. In summary you will:


  • Provide high quality learning, teaching and assessment
  • Support and manage the development and delivery of modules
  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional development through scholarly activity, research, industry liaison, and engagement with UCEM staff development activities
