Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and materials for practical Science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
  • Ensure health and safety protocols are adhered to in all laboratory environments.
  • Support and supervise Science Technicians and work closely with teaching staff to deliver practical demonstrations and experiments.
  • Manage the ordering, inventory, and safe storage of chemicals and scientific equipment.
  • Provide technical support to staff and students during lessons and assist in the development of new practical experiments.
  • Undertake risk assessments and ensure compliance with COSHH and other regulations.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician, with a good understanding of laboratory procedures.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and best practices within a school environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a team of technicians.
  • A passion for Science and an ability to work collaboratively with both staff and students.
  • Relevant qualifications in Science or a related field (e.g., A-levels, BTEC, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Experience working as a Senior Technician or in a leadership capacity.
  • Knowledge of current exam specifications and practical requirements.
