  • Previous TA experience in any setting required

We are looking to welcome a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to the Reading team in the beginning of January to join our support staff community. We provide education to students with additional needs, aged 5-19 years old.

The HLTA will be responsible for supporting the Class teacher with day-to-day elements. The HLTA will have the added responsibility of leading classes and delivering tailored learning material. The main duties of the role will include:

  • Implementing student safeguarding and welfare policies
  • Assessing, reporting and giving feedback regarding students' needs and progress
  • Monitor pupils conduct and behaviour throughout the school day
  • Collaborate with SLT to ensure high quality personal care of the students
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal development
  • Work with students on a 1:1 and group basis on education programmes
  • Cooperate with colleagues, professionals and parents with education plans

This role would be well suited to anyone currently working within a school that is looking to progress in their career. The HLTA position bring the extra responsibility of:

  • Delivering teaching material in the absence of the Class Teacher
  • Understand and assist the Class teacher's curriculum and enrichment to plan, prepare and implement different activities
  • Collaborate with SENCO to tailor students' education to their individual needs
  • Mentor and provide role model guidance to new staff and less experienced TAs
  • Opportunities for professional development and career appraisals
