HR Adviser 

Full time, permanent 

Split place of work between Horizons (Reading, Berkshire) and Home 

Salary £33,000 to £35,000 FTE pa plus benefits

If you are looking for a varied and busy generalist role which touches all aspects of the employment lifecycle, this is it. At UCEM we have around 500 staff and you will advise employees and line managers, coordinate and administer HR work, develop existing areas of HR work, and support all staff as well as colleagues within the HR and Payroll team. 

You will take the lead on several areas of HR work, as well as getting involved in projects from time to time. For some areas you will need to review current practice and either enhance or improve HR interventions and processes, plus develop new resources. Your main areas of responsibility include variations to contracts of employment, flexible working requests, induction for new starters/returners, leaver processes, mandatory training, AskHR inbox, and advising employees and line managers on matters relating to terms and conditions of employment. You will also contribute to team activities around health and wellbeing, as well as equality, diversity, and inclusion – and no doubt more over time. 

Prior HR advisory and administration experience in any industry is essential and you must be ready to take the initiative in your areas of responsibility. Team working is paramount as is the ability to work across UCEM and build good, effective working relationships. Digital skills are also essential and you must be organised, confident, and able to manage a broad and varied workload.
