Job Advert: DevOps Engineer with Device Lab Oversight
Location: Reading, UK
Position: Full-Time, Onsite
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to take charge of the management and optimization of our growing pool of test devices within our device lab. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technology enthusiast to work closely with cross-functional teams on regular release testing, comprehensive root cause analysis, and to ensure the health and efficiency of our CI agent pool. You will play a key role in the ongoing development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines for a variety of hardware devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the integration of devices, ensuring they are flashed, configured, and kept up to date.
- Collaborate with the team on release testing, device health monitoring, and root cause analysis across various hardware architectures.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines tailored for diverse hardware devices, ensuring high reliability and performance.
- Proactively identify issues and implement solutions to maintain a smooth testing and integration process.
- Troubleshoot and manage Windows systems, BIOS flashing, and bootloaders.
- Maintain, update, and support a growing device pool (currently 90 devices, with 40-50 more expected in the coming months).
- Automate tasks and apply non-standard solutions where necessary, particularly where off-the-shelf solutions are unavailable.
- Work closely with the team to develop strategies for keeping devices healthy and ensuring they remain functional for ongoing testing and deployment.
Requirements:
- Strong experience managing Windows systems, including flashing BIOS and using bootloaders.
- Proficient in at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- A self-driven, proactive problem solver who can work independently.
- Experience with Git, continuous integration, and other collaboration tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with test automation tools such as Selenium is desirable.
- Creative problem-solving skills and an aptitude for tackling complex technical challenges.
- Comfortable working onsite at our Reading office every day.
