Are you an Embedded Software Team Leader seeking a new challenge in embedded systems?


Our Reading-based client is a well-established world leader, in the design of complex, high-speed electronic products used in a variety of industries and applications. We're looking for a skilled Software Team Lead with deep expertise in embedded software development, particularly in embedded C/C++.


As anEmbedded Software Team Leader, your responsibilities will include helping the team hit deadlines, representing the Software team in R&D meetings, running design review meetings etc. You will also have remained hands-on and still have the ability to take elements of design projects on and write code.


The percentage split between leadership and hands-on design will fluctuate depending on the project. You will need to have a mix of proven leadership experience and hands-on ability.


You might be in a Principal, Lead, Chief, etc, role at present, which is fine. But you need to have previous leadership skills/experience that are over and above just mentoring more junior Engineers.


Key Responsibilities for the Embedded Software Team Leader, Reading:

  • Proven Software Team Leadership experience (you might be doing this as a Principal, Lead, or Chief Engineer, which is fine).
  • Able to conduct design review meetings (run whiteboard sessions) and challenge experienced Engineers on design solutions.
  • Work with the software team to define and optimise software development processes, including architectural design, implementation guidelines, configuration management, and validation/verification practices.
  • Take elements of a design project on yourself writing code.


Skills and Experience Required for the Embedded Software Team Leader:

  • Strong background in embedded software development with significant experience in embedded C/C++.
  • Expertise in low-level software, real-time operating systems, and hardware interfaces.
  • Proven ability to make strategic design decisions and influence team direction.
  • Experience working on projects from concept to manufacture and successfully completing design projects from complex products.
