Overview:We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. 

The IT Support Assistant is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to end-users within the organisation while gaining hands-on experience and training in IT support and Microsoft 365 & Cloud services. This role ensures that IT systems and cloud services operate smoothly, enabling users to perform their tasks effectively. 

You will learn to troubleshoot hardware and software issues, set up new equipment & environments, and provide training and support to users under the guidance of experienced infrastructure team members.

Duties: 

  • Technical Support: Assist in providing first-line support to users experiencing technical issues, including troubleshooting hardware, software, networking and Microsoft 365 & Cloud services.
  • Equipment provisioning: Working with the infrastructure team on software, hardware, server, PC, and infrastructure installations and configurations.
  • User Assistance: Support users with IT-related queries and provide training on new systems and software under supervision.
  • System Maintenance: Participate in regular maintenance tasks such as patching, backups, and system health checks.
  • Documentation: Assist in maintaining accurate records of support requests, solutions provided, and equipment inventory.
  • Troubleshooting & Project Work: Work closely with other Infrastructure team members to help resolve complex issues and implement new technologies.
  • Learning and Development: Engage in continuous learning and development opportunities to build technical skills and knowledge.
  • Security: Learn and adhere to organisational security policies and procedures to ensure the safety of IT systems.

Desirable skills: 

  • Technical ability: Basic understanding of Windows and macOS operating systems, and a keen interest in learning about Microsoft 365 & Cloud services.
  • Problem-solving: Willingness to develop strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively assist users and document solutions.
  • Customer Service: Ability to provide friendly and patient support to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week: 35-hour week, 8am - 10am start, with a 4pm - 6pm finish. 

Salary:£20,000 - £22,000 per annum.
