Construction Partner - ReadingA prestigious, forward-thinking law firm is seeking an experienced Construction Partner to join and lead its growing team in Reading. This is a unique opportunity for a highly skilled and ambitious construction lawyer with an established following to take on a leadership role, driving the team's growth while handling complex, high-profile projects.The Role:

  • Lead and grow the Reading Construction team, with the flexibility to work across offices, including in London.
  • Take responsibility for business development, actively seeking profitable growth opportunities, and contributing to the strategic and marketing direction of the team and the firm.
  • Cultivate and manage strong client relationships, while overseeing the mentoring and development of junior team members and ensuring knowledge transfer across the department.
  • Exhibit leadership and maturity, managing client relationships and delegating tasks efficiently to ensure the smooth distribution of work within the team.
  • Provide leadership by example, demonstrating a commercial, solutions-based approach to problem-solving and supporting the team in meeting client expectations and business goals.
  • Be dependable and maintain positive relationships with partners, staff, and clients, contributing to the firm's overall success and fostering a culture of mutual respect.
  • Oversee delegation, supervision, and the sharing of expertise to ensure high-quality service and the efficient running of the team.

About the Candidate:

  • A recognised expert in construction law, with significant experience advising on and drafting amendments to standard form construction contracts (e.g. JCT, NEC), collateral warranties, bonds, and guarantees.
  • Strong background in construction dispute resolution, including adjudication, arbitration, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
  • A proven track record in business development, generating new business, driving growth, and contributing to the firm's strategic direction.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a commitment to developing the next generation of lawyers within the team.
  • A commercial, solutions-oriented approach to handling legal challenges, with an ability to work well under pressure and deliver results.
  • High level of technical expertise and the aspiration to maintain legal excellence within the field, alongside an aptitude for networking, building client relationships, and undertaking training for clients and third parties.
