Maintenance Engineer

Annual Salary: Up to £46,000

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to provide a high-quality maintenance service, ensuring all plant and machinery are maintained and repaired to support the cleaning, inspection, assembly, and packing of sterile equipment for hospital and community settings. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of our services and requires a dedicated professional who can oversee the work of contract and service engineers.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Ensure that all plant and machines are maintained and repaired to enable the provision of the service.
  • Oversee the work of all contract and service engineers.
  • Perform weekly tests as required to maintain sterilisers/washers in accordance with CfPP guidelines.
  • Inform the National Maintenance Manager of any changes in machine cycle profile and any resulting maintenance needs.
  • Service all machinery before the commencement of quarterly and annual validation.
  • Facilitate the scheduling of yearly validation of plant equipment.
  • Ensure that all machinery and equipment meets the requirements of the Medical Devices Directive.
  • Maintain all validation/calibration certification required for MDD registration.
  • Maintain spare parts and tools store and advise on stock level replenishment.
  • Carry out any other PPM weekly maintenance/inspection as scheduled in the plant maintenance schedule.
  • Participate in an on-call rota and may require travel to other sites and locations within the Group.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement and best practice within the sterile processing team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer or similar role.
  • Familiarity with CfPP guidelines and the Medical Devices Directive.
  • Ability to oversee contract and service engineers’ work.
  • Competence in maintaining and repairing plant and machinery.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage maintenance schedules and stock levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to participate in an on-call rota and travel to various sites.
  • A team player with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
