Responsibilities
- Design and development of transducers and related fixtures and fittings, using 3D CAD software and 2D drawing creation. (Solidworks)
- Design of automated mechanical testing systems.
- Hands-on experience in finite element analysis (FEA) for stress, deflection, and optimization studies.
- Create detailed technical drawings, assembly instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
- Conduct engineering calculations, including stress, strain and load analysis, ensuring designs meet performance and reliability standards.
- Evaluate and implement manufacturing techniques to improve product quality, cost-effectiveness and production efficiency.
- Support prototype fabrication, testing and calibration of load cells to ensure performance consistency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Experience / Qualifications Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in design of precision components.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks).
- Deep understanding of stress and strain principles, material behaviour, and mechanical properties.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with manufacturing techniques such as CNC machining, welding, and assembly.
- Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
- Experience in 3D printing and CNC machining
- Experience in calibrating and testing load cells using dead weights or other calibration systems.
- Understanding of sensor electronics and signal processing.
Details
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- Working Hours: 09:00am to 5:00pm, Monday - Friday (flexible with hybrid options).
- Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.
