As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Aerospace, Defence, Security, and Technology sector, this person will design, analyze, and oversee the development of critical mechanical systems for high-profile defence and aerospace projects. They will work on cutting-edge challenges such as aircraft electrification or designing mechanical components for submarines and other defence equipment.

Main duties include:-

  • Designing and developing mechanical systems, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and reliability standards.
  • Performing calculations and analysis to confirm the strength, durability, and efficiency of designs.
  • Creating technical documents, writing reports, specifications, and justifications to support their work.
  • Managing projects, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality.
  • Reviewing and approving work, checking other engineers designs and reports for accuracy and safety.
  • Communicating with clients, presenting technical solutions, progress updates, and design justifications.
  • Working on-site if needed, collaborating with teams at different locations, including government or defence sites.

Specialisms required:-

They should be a mechanical engineering expert with experience in:

  • Inventor CAD for designing for safety-critical industries (nuclear, aerospace, defence).
  • Mechanical design principles-concept development, materials selection, and structural integrity.
  • Industry standards and regulations for safety-critical engineering.
  • Leading teams and managing projects from concept to completion.
  • Chartered Engineer (or working towards it) status is preferred.

This role is ideal for someone with strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and leadership experience in complex engineering environments.
